Secretary of State Antony Blinken has announced the appointment of Gayle Smith, a former veteran diplomat, as the US coordinator for Global COVID Response, while stressing that America must lead the world in bringing the pandemic to an end. Blinken on Monday named Smith, former head of US Agency for International Development in the Obama administration, to serve as the coordinator for Global COVID Response.
