WPI raises to 2.74 per cent in February

Increase on wholesale prices rose up to 2.93 per cent in February over the previous month, the hardening of prices of basic items, fuel and power, according to government data released on Thursday. The Wholesale Price Index (WPI) increase for up to 2.76per cent in January 2019.

In February 2018, WPI inflation stood at 2.74per cent. The increase in basic items, which includes vegetables like potato, onion, fruits, and milk rose to 4.84%. The data revealed in January is 3.54 per cent.

The WPI data additional announced that wholesale-based price increase for ‘fuel and power’ section is up to 2.23per cent in February month as into 1.85% in January 2019. The Reserve Bank of India had cut the key lending rate by 0.25per cent in February.
