As the official event starts on May 30th, every team have got their warm-up matches, as scheduled before.

India plays the first warm-up match against New Zealand on May 25.

Armed with pedigree, team and form, favourites India will appear to hit the ground working when they face New Zealand in their beginning warm-up game of the ICC World Cup 2019 at The Oval on today(May 25).

Nevertheless, with India yet to clean the haze of confusion over the number 4 position, it will be a lot more than a ritual of permitting one top-order batsman after another – behemoths in their very own right – a hit in the middle.

The tour at the Kennigton Oval will go beyond trial and error with their highly experienced bowling attack, and also quite a bit of focus will likely be on K L Rahul and Vijay Shankar, contenders for the number 4 slot.

Shankar’s injury however has made Rahul the front-runner to get the No.4 spot in the India vs New Zealand World Cup warm-up match.

New Zealand, conversely, have got their fare share of injury issues too. Wicket-keeper batsman Tom Lahtam has been excluded of their two warm-up games and he will probably be substituted by uncapped Tom Blundell.

The India vs New Zealand World Cup warm-up match will be played at the Kennington Oval in London and the match begins at 3pm IST on Saturday (May 24)
