Wimbledon women’s doubles title was secured by Strycova and Hsieh

Czech Barbora Strycova on Sunday achieved a significant Wimbledon as she partnered Hsieh Su-Wei to the women’s doubles trophy, defeating Canada/China duo Gabriela Dabrowski and Xu Yifan 6-2 6-4.

Following the spine-tingling of the men’s singles final the highest in the tournament’s history Strycova and her Taiwanese associate ultimately made on the court to begin the curtain down on the fortnight with a straightforward success.

They are the first team to raise the doubles crown at Wimbledon without losing a position since Serena and Venus Williams in 2009.

Strycova a 33-year-old on Thursday became the oldest Wimbledon singles semi-final debutant when she lost to Serena on Thursday.
