While companies are sacking employees, Amazon India Inc. going to appoint 50,000 temp workers

Amid the latest news on layoffs by many companies, for example, Swiggy, Ola, Zomato, and WeWork, Amazon India Inc. announces on Friday that it requires 50,000 temporary workers to satisfy the increasing demand.

This will be great for part-time work openings as independent contractors with Amazon Flex in a variety of roles in their fulfillment centers and delivery network.

In recent weeks many companies, have experienced a huge loss in business due to coronavirus lockdown and have sacked many employees.

Whereas, the Amazon India has announced openings for 50,000 temporary employees to meet the urgent demand in online shopping in the nation during the pandemic.

The brief recruits will work in Amazon’s delivery network and fulfillment centers. The announcement came at the time when several other companies in the nation were forced to make job cuts due to the health crisis.

The only business that is helping in social distancing during the pandemic is the e-commerce business. However, it faced a difficult time during the initial days of the nationwide lockdown. After a few months, the government of India slowly eased restrictions and permitted them to resume online business.

On Thursday, Amazon India also announced that it intends to enter the food delivery business in India, jumping into the food business with already well-established companies, for example, Swiggy and Zomato, which will be challenging.

On Thursday, the Wall Street Journal detailed that Amazon itself has shifted its yearly global Prime Day event to September.
