UP government delivers Rs 25 lakh cheque to Unnao rape survivor’s family: After SC’s verdict

Moving in consent with a Supreme Court order on Thursday the government of UP issued a cheque of Rs 25 lakh to the family members of Unnao rape survivor.

Awanish Awasthi Additional Chief Secretary (Home) in Lucknow said in a statement that Rs 25 lakh worth cheque has been handed over to the Unnao rape survivor family members by Kaushal Raj Sharma district magistrate of Lucknow and KalanidhiNaithani SSP of Lucknow.

The rape victim is currently struggling for life at King Georges Medical University’s Trauma Centre in the state capital.

Ahead in the day, the Supreme Court directed the transfer of all five cases recorded in association with the Unnao rape incident from Uttar Pradesh to Delhi.

The apex court further urged the state government to render Rs 25 lakh to the victim of rape as interim compensation.

In Rae Bareli On Sunday, the car in which the Unnao rape survivor, her family, and lawyer were going was hit by a truck, killing her two aunts and making her and the advocate crucially injured.

The CBI took over the inquiry concerning the road accident, accused 10 people of murder, along with Kuldeep Singh Sengar BJP legislator who is already in jail, charged for the rape of Unnao woman in 2017 when she was a minor.

On Monday the police recorded a murder case upon Sengar and the other nine following the rape survivor’s family registered a complaint claiming conspiracy behind the accident.
