Trial of Babri Masjid case to take six more months for its verdict

A special judge enduring a hearing in Babri Masjid destruction case, comprising BJP veterans L K Advani, M M Joshi on Monday led the Supreme Court asking six more months to resolve the trial in the case.

In a letter written by the special judge in May, has notified the top court that he is expected to superannuate on September 30, 2019.

The subject became hearing on Monday before a bench directed by Justice R F Nariman, which urged the Uttar Pradesh government to inform it by July 19 regarding a mechanism by which the tenure of the special judge could be stretched till he passed the judgment in the high contour case.

The top court, on April 19, 2017, had directed the day-to-day trial to be settled in two years.
