First COVID case of IPL 2022 detected in DC camp
Delhi Capitals physio Patrick Farhart tested positive for COVID-19 on Friday, the first such case in the ongoing season in what certainly is a worrying development for the tournament organisers.
The last two editions of the league had also been affected — the entire 2020 season had to be shifted to the UAE in the months of September and October, while the following year, a sudden surge in cases inside the bio-bubble forced the BCCI to suspend the league in May after hosting the tournament initially in India. It later took place in the UAE, once again around autumn.
“Royal Challengers Bangalore are on a roll in this IPL and they are definitely going to make it to the playoffs,” said former India head coach Ravi Shastri with Faf du Plessis having got off to a positive start in IPL 2022 with three wins in five games.
Their winning streak halted by the defending champions, Royal Challengers Bangalore will hope Harshal Patel returns to the playing XI and contribute in bringing their campaign back on track when they face Delhi Capitals in an IPL match on Saturday.
