Cauvery waters of the state have been discharging from the KRS reservoir to Tamil Nadu from Friday evening.
According to the Supreme Court’s judgment, Karnataka is supposed to release 34 tmcft of Cauvery water to the neighbouring State in July. Even though water is scarce and also very poor storage in the reservoir, the State is releasing the water.
The water discharge quantum to the river was measured at the rate of 355 cusecs at 6 a.m. on Friday. But, it was raised to 2,453 cusecs at 6 p.m., as per the references at the Irrigation Department said The Hindu. Meantime, the water level in KRS held at 90.53 ft on Friday as against the full reservoir level of 124.8 ft. The level on a corresponding day in 2018 was 124.1 ft.Share this to your,
