Tamil film director Mahendran dies at 79

Mahendran, a Tamil filmmaker, 79-year-old passed away in a Chennai’s private hospital on Tuesday. He was taken to the hospital a few days ago and diagnosed with dialysis in a critical condition. Mahendran as a director made his debut with Rajinikanth’s MullumMalarum in 1978. He was discharged on Monday as he eventually got better. His rites will be conducted today evening at 5 p.m. His mortal will be kept at his residence in Chennai from 10 AM today for public homage.

Mahendran said in his earlier interview, “Director’s today do not know how good a character artiste Rajinikanth is. They only know about his stylishness. Only I know how easily he pulled off his role Kaali in MullumMalarum. Easy a panni Subaru (He will pull it off easily). He is an excellent character artiste.” Mahendran is known for his films such as Uthiripookkal, NenjathaiKilladhe, Johnny and Kaali as a director. Then he is acting as a Villian role with ‘Ilayathalapathy VIJAY’ in Theri movie. He also appeared in films namely Nimir, Mr Chandramouli, Seethakaathi, and Petta. There, he played a role as an antagonist.
