SC held suo moto notice of the letter by the Unnao victim family, CJI asks for the reply from SC

On Wednesday the Supreme Court held suo moto notice of the letter addressed on July 12 by the family of the victim Unnao rape to the Chief Justice of India that they were getting death threats. The CJI asked a reply from the court about the obstacle in passing the letter before him.

The CJI said, “I was informed yesterday afternoon about the letter and I am yet to see it. Newspapers have reported as if no action was taken by the CJI. We will try to do something constructive amid this highly destructive environment.”

The letter, which holds numerous media organisations, asked security from the threats and bullying by the involved person by his associates. The letter was written in Devanagari script, told a video-recording has been attached with the letter which proves criminal threatening and photos of the involved persons.

The car on Sunday, in which the rape victim was going was hit by a truck with a shaded number plate in Uttar Pradesh’s Raebareli which killed the girl’s relatives and the victim was critically wounded. The girl had blamed BJP legislator Kuldeep Singh Sengar of sexual harassment two years before.

The CBI on Wednesday filed a case of murder and attempt to murder on Sengar in association with the accident.
