SC denied urgent listing of the case to ban ‘TikTok’ application

The Supreme Court on April 8 denied the urgent listing of a case claiming the recent Madras High Court order of banning the ‘TikTok’ app due to the concerns of pornographic content. Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi, the bench head said the plea will come up for hearing in due course of time.

The Madras High Court on April 3 had informed the Centre to ban mobile application ‘TikTok’ due to the concern of pornographic content was created through such apps. Court had claimed the interim order on a public interest litigation (PIL) petition which asked to ban Tik Tok which contained content that “degraded culture and encouraged pornography”.
