Red alert declared by IMD in the regions of Kerala for next 24 hours duration

Heavy rains followed by heavy winds and thunderstorms will strap many regions of Kerala and Karnataka in the succeeding 24 hours. The India Meteorological Department has announced a red alert for Kannur and Kasaragod areas for Tuesday. An orange alert has been announced in Kozhikode, Malappuram and Wayanad districts. A yellow warning for Palakkad, Thrissur, Ernakulam, and Idukki districts.

IMD said, “Strong winds from Westerly direction speed reaching 40-50 km/h likely along and off Kerala and Karnataka coasts, South Tamil Nadu and over Lakshadweep area.” It also added that heavy winds from the southwesterly path with speed approaching 40-50 km/h are expected to control across Central and Southwest Arabian Sea.

Advising regarding the Karnataka coast, Kerala coast and Lakshadweep Area, the IMA said, “Sea condition will be rough to very rough.”

The stormy weather circumstances will control till Friday. The holiday has been announced in schools and colleges in Kannur, Kasargod and Malappuram districts.

The prediction rainfall in regions such as Assam, Meghalaya, Konkan, Goa, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal.

IMD added, “Heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places over Bihar, East Rajasthan, East Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Maharashtra, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam, Rayalaseema, North Interior Karnataka and Lakshadweep.”

IMD stated, “Thunderstorm accompanied with lightning is very likely at isolated places over north Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Jharkhand and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim.”
