The Supreme Court on Friday requested the exchange of senior official Prateek Hajela, who was responsible for refreshing the National Register of Citizens (NRC) in Assam, to Madhya Pradesh on delegation.
The top court’s seat headed by Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi said Hajela, the facilitator of the NRC, would be on assignment.
The CJI wouldn’t share the purpose behind the exchange request when lawyer general KK Venugopal asked him.
“Can a request be passed with no explanation or cause?” CJI Gogoi inquired.
He additionally requested that the administration inform Hajela’s exchange inside seven days.
