PM Modi pays tribute to former union minister Sushma Swaraj

Prime Minister Narendra Modi drove the nation in giving tributes to former union minister Sushma Swaraj.

Sushma Swaraj was taken home from the hospital last midnight while doctors at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences could not revive her. Swaraj on Twitter wrote ‘thank you’ to Prime Minister Narendra Modi a few hours before, a massive heart arrest and had been sped to the hospital at 9.30 pm.

President Ram Nath Kovind, Amit Shah, Mayawati, Mulayam Singh, Sonia Gandhi and representatives are with the dignitaries who have paid offerings to the veteran leaders at her residence.

Sushma Swaraj is being brought to the BJP headquarters early to allow party workers to pay their last tribute. She will be taken through Lodhi Road crematorium by the streets of national capital Delhi for her rites.

PM Modi, who was with the early guests to her Safdarjung Lane house, was seen reassuring her husband Swaraj Kaushal and daughter Bansuri, following paying his tributes. As Swaraj Kaushal expressed, “tears welled up in the prime minister’s eyes.”

Swaraj started her career as the cabinet minister in Haryana at 25, and was elected seven times as a member of parliament.
