One Among Seven Indians Return Back to India After Being Kidnapped by Taliban Militants in 2018

External Affairs Ministry, Sushma Swaraj said on Monday that one of the seven Indians who had been kidnapped in Afghanistan’s Baghlan province has returned to India. The seven Indian engineers were kidnapped in the northern Baghlan province on 6 May by Taliban militants.

India has been urging the Afghan government to ensure the release of the Indians. Sushma Swaraj said that “One of the seven Indian nationals, who was kidnapped in Baghlan province of Afghanistan in May 2018, has safely returned to India.

We are grateful to the Government of Afghanistan for their support in securing the release and repatriation of the Indian national. The seven Indian engineers were working on a power sub-station project construction and they were kidnapped by Taliban militants from the region of Cheshma-e-Sher area.
