Nirav Modi applied for bail in UK

Nirav Modi, a fraud on money laundering cases of $2 billion, on Friday applied for bail in the U.K. High Court.

The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) said the trial for his bail request will be conducted on June 11.

Nirav Modi was remanded till June 27 by a U.K. court, on Thursday which led to the Indian government to approve in 14 days in which prison he is to be arrested.

India wants him to face charges of fraud and money laundering amounting to nearly $2 billion in the Punjab National Bank (PNB) case.

Nirav Modi was taken to the custody by uniformed Scotland Yard officers on a warrant from a Metro Bank branch in central London on March 19.
