Monsoon gets delayed by 5 days, will arrive in Kerala by June 6

The Southwest monsoon is likely to arrive 5 days late in Kerala, by June 6, said India Meteorological Department (IMD) in its onset forecast for 2019.

It also informed that the monsoon will heat the Andaman and Nicobar islands by the end of this week. Normally, it arrives over the islands anytime between May10-15.

Last year, the inset was realised on May 29, which was three days preceding the normal onset date over Kerala.

However, in 2017, the onset over Kerala happened two days in advance (May 30).
