“If Azam Khan had apologized for his shameful comment on the same day, I would have forgiven him”, said Rama Devi

Azam Khan, Samajwadi lawmaker sexist comments in parliament on Lok Sabha Deputy Speaker has provoked abuse, confessed to Rama Devi today. The Deputy Speaker, who first said that she would nevermore pardon him, today stated his statement has “hurt both women and men in India”.

She stated he would not get this. He has got bad habits and said she has not come to listen to such comments.

Azam Khan’s sexist comments made while on Thursday’s discussion on a proposal to outlaw Triple Talaq.

He had said Rama Devi, “Sister, I have had a long political career, it is not possible for me to say anything bad. If there is a single unparliamentary word in what I said, then I declare my resignation from parliament.”

The BJP’s Sushma Swaraj stated limits of behaviour and experienced from “mental perversion”.

“This is an offensive action, I request to you for representative action,” Sitharaman, Finance Minister Nirmala said to Om Prakash Birla, Speaker.

Rama Devi stated, “If Azam Khan had apologized for his shameful comment on the same day, I would have forgiven him. He even walked off on Thursday after making this comment – adding insult to injury.”

She later added, “I will tell the Speaker that Azam Khan has not only embarrassed Rama Devi, but women across the country have been insulted. I will tell the Speaker Om Birla that Azam Khan needs to be given such exemplary punishment that is remembered for generations to come.”
