HIV tests to be made mandatory in Goa before marriage

Goa Health Minister Vishwajit Rane stated on Tuesday said that the state government was thinking to make HIV examinations compulsory before the marriage registrations.

Rane said they are planning to make an HIV test mandatory for the planned couples before the filing of marriage in Goa. It is not mandatory right now.”

He added that the plan was being examined by the Law Department.

If the decision is accepted by the Department, then they will confirm the law in the monsoon gathering of the state Legislative Assembly on July 15, he said.
