A gunfight between the security forces and militants broke out in Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian district on Friday.
The security forces surrounded an orchard region in Dragad-Sugan village of the district after they collected information regarding the militants in the area.
“As the security forces came closer, the hiding militants opened fire, triggering an encounter which is underway. Additional forces have been rushed to the area to ensure to flush out the militants from the orchard area,” the source was quoted as saying.
A 20-year-old man was shot and 30 people were hurt as civilians argued with security staff near a site of a gunfight in Pinjoora in Shopian, on Wednesday.
A joint team of police and Indian Army had begun a cordon and search operation in Pinjoora on specific information about the presence of militants there.
The gunfight with militants began in the village while the forces were busy in the operation.
Disputes exploded near to the firefight area as villagers attempted to march towards it to give a safe way to militants.Share this to your,
