‘Few have the courage’: Priyanka Gandhi on support to Rahul Gandhi’s decision

An appreciation for brother Rahul Gandhi is given by Priyanka Gandhi Vadra in her Tweet on Thursday saying, a day after he induced integrity to his determination to step down as party president by writing a valediction note to party workers and supporters.

Priyanka, who was designated as Congress general secretary days before the Lok Sabha elections wrote “Few have the courage that you do @rahulgandhi. Deepest respect for your decision”

The party associates resisted to admit the resignation of 49-year-old Congress president on May 25 who offered it at the meeting of the Congress Working Committee (CWC), the party’s most eminent decision-making committee, after its general election failure and hence he went public with the letter on Wednesday.

Earlier in the day, Gandhi told reporters in the Parliament House complex that he had already resigned and the CWC should find a replacement for him shortly.

Asking about the future development of the party he said “I am no longer the Congress president. I have already resigned. The CWC should convene a meeting immediately and decide on the new Congress president.”

This move taken by Gandhi was utilized by the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to take a swipe at the Congress. Union minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said “It is a brand new drama of the party and we have nothing to do with it,”
