Former Union Minister and Muzaffarnagar BJP candidate Sanjeev Balyan on Thursday claimed fake voting in his Lok Sabha constituency, Muzaffarnagar, alleging that the faces of the voters were covered with the burqa and were not being verified by poll officials.
Sanjeev Balyan said, “Faces of women in burqa are not being checked and I allege that fake voting is taking place.” He added that he will demand a re-poll if his concerns are not addressed. The former minister is asking re-election from the constituency.
After the Muzaffarnagar riots in 2013, the constituency achieved a reputation. Polling for the first phase of Lok Sabha is started for eight out of the 80 Lok Sabha seats in UP. Counting of votes will be on May 23.
