With just 1,357 active cases, the coronavirus recovery rate in Andhra Pradesh’s eight districts – Kadapa, Nellore, Anantapur, Kurnool, East Godavari, West Godavari, Vizianagaram and Srikakulam – reached 99 per cent on Tuesday, sources said.
According to the state government, in early January, the mortality rate in the state stood at just 0.44 per cent whereas the cumulative mortality rate remained at 0.81 per cent.
Out of 1,357 active cases, 444 are being treated at various hospitals across the state while the rest have been placed in home quarantine, sources said.
”Another positive sign is the state is operating only 69 out of 243 hospitals that have been equipped with the necessary infrastructure and trained staff to treat Covid-19 patients. A steep decline in the number of active cases and the number of cases needing hospitalization have resulted in the authorities operating only 69 hospitals,” the state health authority said.
Currently, 69 hospitals with a total bed capacity of 19,000 are dedicated for coronavirus treatment while the rest of the hospitals are kept on standby, health authority added.
