The Congress party and its ally parties will boycott President Ram Nath Kovind’s inaugural address of the budget session which is going to take place on Friday. (January 29).
President Ram Nath Kovind is scheduled to address both houses of the Parliament on January 29 before the start of the budget session.
Deputy leader of the Congress party in Lok Sabha Gaurav Gogoi said that all main political parties of United Progressive Alliance (UPA) will boycott tomorrow’s address of the President.
“Our support is tied to the hope of the farmers. Just as the BJP-led government is showing their vanity about the farmers issue, we are opposing it,” Gaurav Gogoi said.
Hitting back at the Modi government over farmers’ agitation, which continues to fan controversy, Gogoi said the Modi government has not shown any genuine sincerity to the farmers’ demand.
“There are two types of talks one type of talk is trying to find out the solution formula, and the second is to force the farmers through negotiated tactics. I don’t think that the current regime is showing any genuine sincerity in favor of the farmers. If they were considering, they would have made a temporary stay on the farm bills, until they resolved the issue. But they didn’t do such measures. The central government is continuing meetings with the farmers in a room, but their spokespersons are making some abusing statements against the farmers on TV debates. It is their real nature towards the farmers,” Gaurav Gogoi said.
On the Delhi violence, which unfolded on Republic Day in the national capital, the Congress MP said that his party does not support any violence and has strongly condemned the January 26 incident.
Gogoi also questioned the Delhi police and Union Home Ministry’s strength on the incident.
“Delhi police is under the Union Home Ministry and Amit Shah is the Home Minister of the country. If actually Khalistani terrorists were involved with the incident, then where was the Delhi police? What are the steps taken by the Delhi police. If such incidents could happen in the Red Fort then what was the preparation of the Delhi Police to deal with it. Amit Shah should resign after failing to protect the Red Fort. The BJP said that they will give protection to the nation, but they failed to protect the Red Fort,” Gaurav Gogoi said.
Gaurav Gogoi called the BJP-led government an arrogant government and said that without talks with anybody the government bought the farm laws.
