The Congress accused the BJP government of punishing economically backward students by putting restrictions on the eligibility criteria to provide education loans for pursuing professional or technical courses.
Congress party allegation came soon after a media report said that the supply of available institutions for students who can take education loans to continue professional or technical courses got decreased.
The report, indicating the newest set of guidelines published by the Union HRD Ministry, announced the eligibility for the educational loan scheme of the Indian Banks’ Association is limited to students entering for professional and technical courses in NAAC approved institutions of national significance and centrally-funded professional organisations.
“BJP government punishes lakhs of economically weaker students by putting obstacles in eligibility criteria to avail education loans for pursuing Professional/Technical courses!” Congress chief spokesperson Randeep Surjewala wrote in his Twitter.
