Alluri Sitarama Raju’s Birth Anniversary

Alluri Sitarama Raju was born on July 4, 1897/1898 (debate prevails around the year). He was an Indian revolutionary involved with the Indian freedom movement.

After the completion of the 1882 Madras Forest Act, its constraints on the free movements of tribal peoples in the forest barred them from participating in their traditional podu farming system, which included shifting cultivation.

Raju unique led the Rampa Rebellion of 1922–24, through which a band of tribal people and other sympathisers fought against in the border regions of the East Godavari and Visakhapatnam parts of Madras Presidency, in present-day Andhra Pradesh, against the British Raj, that have approved the law. He was known as “Manyam Veerudu” (“Hero of the Jungles”) by the neighborhood people.

Alluri Sitarama Raju was an armed Rebellion and was later on caught by the British in the forests of Chintapalle. He was tied to a tree and shot in Koyyuru village in May 7,1924. His tomb is at Krishna Devi Peta village.

In 1986 the Indian Postal Department released a commemorative stamp showcasing Raju in the series ‘India’s struggle for freedom’. Andhra Pradesh is usually to rejoice his birthday, 4 July, each year as a government festival. Alluri Sitarama Raju Cricket Stadium in Eluru is termed after him.

On 9 October 2017, at the demand of Members of Parliament, Thota Narasimham and V. Vijayasai Reddy, the Government of India made a decision to install a statue of Raju at the precincts of the Parliament of India in reputation of his work as a freedom fighter, and for the welfare of the tribal people.

RRR is a forthcoming Indian Telugu-language period action film written and directed by S.S. Rajamouli. It is a fictional story based around India’s freedom fighters, Alluri Sitarama Raju and Komaram Bheem who fought against against the British Raj and the Nizam of Hyderabad, respectively. The movie’s story is a mythical retelling of their lives in the course of their self-imposed exile.

RamCharan and Junior NTR is playing the specific roles of Sitarama Raju and Komaram Bheem. The big-budget action film is estimated about 300-400 crores is under pre-production and the crew is planning for 2020 release.

The film was produced by DVV Entertainments and music composed by M.M. Keeravani, cinematography by K.K. Senthil Kumar, story by K.V. Vijayendra Prasad and screenplay by ‘Showman’ S .S .Rajamouli himself.

The production house of the film in their official twitter account wished Alluri Sitarama Raju and exclaimed regarding their enthusiasm to present the film and Ramcharan as ‘Alluri Sitarama Raju’.
