Aishwarya Rai to play a grey shaded role in Mani Ratnam’s film!

Bollywood actor Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is reported to be centered on her next project which is none other than Mani Ratnam who directs the upcoming film.

Surprisingly, Aishwarya is going to play a negative role in the period drama which will be based on the historical Tamil novel by Kalki, Ponniyin Selvan. She earlier did a negative role in Khakhee.

A Middle of the Day report outlined a source as saying, “The story takes place in the 10th century before Raja Raja Chola became a king. Aishwarya will be seen as Nandini, the wife of Periya Pazhuvettaraiyar, who shown as the chancellor and treasurer of the Chola kingdom. Her character is written as a mysterious, power-hungry woman who manipulates her husband to plan the downfall of the Chola empire because she is being wronged by them.”

The novel is based on the life of Arulmozhi Varman who grew to become the great Chola Emperor.

Mani Ratnam was supposedly planning the film for nearly a decade . The film on Ponniyin Selvan will probably be huge with Vikram, ‘Jayam’ Ravi and another male-lead joining the team. About female-lead speculations goes around the South Lady SuperStars Anushka Shetty and Nayanthara. Either of them will join the team soon. Amala Paul is also rumoured to have come onboard.

According to sources,the pre-production work has already started and huge sets are are being constructed for the film that is more likely to go on floors by 2019 end.
