In an ongoing protest on Lt Governor Kiran Bedi for her comments on the Chennai water crisis, Rajnath Singh has said the LG regrets her statement and respects people of Tamil Nadu.
In her deleted tweet, KirnBedi accused “the water crisis in Tamil Nadu on poor governance, corrupt politics, indifferent bureaucracy with a highly selfish and cowardly attitude of the people”.
About 200 AIADMK persons in Pudhucherry protested near the governor’s residence.
DMK had also protested against Kiran Bedi. DMK chief MK Stalin had said about the problem and had asked her apologies for the comment. DMK has even said that President Ramnath Kovind should remove her from the office.
“What was written was a people perspective shared in my personal capacity, as it came at a time when people were hugely suffering for water in Chennai. However, I admit it was avoidable. And I should not have shared it in public in this manner and I too realised it, “Rajnath Singh said.
“I have therefore deleted my sharing. I have the highest regards and warmth for the people of Tamil Nadu like I have for the people of Puducherry,” Singh cited Bedi’s statement.
The defence minister stated that he would like to ask members of them to calm down. DMK MP Dayanidhi Maran appreciated Singh for his response on the issue of LG Bedi’s comments on the Tamil people.
“I hope that henceforth the government adopts the same attitude in dealing with matters of dissent and voices of opposition as well,” Maran said in the House.Share this to your,
