IND vs NZ Toss:

Just before the toss, Hardik Pandya, Rahul Dravid, and Vikram Rathore were seen to have a conversation with Prithvi Shaw. But he is not a part of the playing XI.

IND vs NZ Toss:

Mitchell Santner: We are gonna have a bat. The stats say that it’s challenging to chase here. We’ll try to get some runs on the board and see what it does. We had a tough one-day series, it was nice to bounce back with a win. Different guys stepping up at different times is always nice. It’s never easy to beat India at home. Even in the first match, that partnership between Surya and Hardik put them right back in the game. The key is to take wickets through the middle, that’s the best way to slow them down. You got to take (bigger ground dimensions) into account. We play with the same team.

IND vs NZ Toss:

Hardik Pandya: We were thinking to bat first, but bowling also is fine. It can’t be more difficult than this in a bilateral series, to lose the first match and have two matches on line. So this should be positive for us. I think bowling-wise, we need to realise, even if we are going for runs, we need to understand that 2 overs also make a difference in this format. I don’t want to think much but (the pitch) looks it might spin. Hence we have one change, Umran Malik misses out and Yuzi replaces him. Kulcha is back together, what everyone wanted to see and with Washington Sundar bowling so well, we have three quality spinners.

IND vs NZ Toss:

Mitchell Santner wins the toss and opts to bat first.

Pitch report

Ajit Agarkar: It has a tacky look to it.It is a red soil pitch like in Mumbai. If there is grip or movement off the pitch it will be quick and the batter will not have time. There is no grass on both batting ends. The team batting second will hope for dew.

Dany Morrison: One of the bigger grounds in India. 69m square on one side, 67m on the other side, and 77m today for the straight boundary. One of the bigger grounds in India.
