33 new joint secretaries appointed in the centre

On Monday the government designated 33 fresh joint secretaries in the Centre and of which just seven are of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and four of the Indian Revenue Service (IRS).

The government has made officers from different services like the Indian Railway Service of Mechanical Engineers, Indian Post and Telecommunication, Accounts and Finance Service and Indian Defence Accounts Service.

The officers were posted as joint secretaries in February while the earlier Narendra Modi government. The government started the process following the opinion of a new term in May and began the appointments on Monday.

The other service officers led to the Centre as joint secretaries involve those from the Indian Audit and Accounts Service, Indian Railway Accounts Service, Indian Railway Service of Signal Engineers and Indian Statistical Services.

Officials of the Indian Civil Accounts Service, Indian Railway Personnel Service and Central Secretariat Services have been chosen for holding joint secretaries in central ministries.

Amongst prominent appointments, Indian Revenue Services officer Sandip M Pradhan has been elected as Director-General of Sports Authority of India.

Radhika Chawdhary, the Indian Railway Personnel Service and G Jayanti from the Central Secretariat Service have been designated as joint secretaries in the department of personnel and training.

Nazli Jafri Shayin, an IA&AS officer, has been appointed as joint secretary in Defence ministry.
